Even at some point throw Diop on and launch high balls towards him, anything to unsettle them and nick a goal. In true fat Sam mode we played for the 0-1

Moyes volley’s at a ball person is the most cuntish thing about yesterday.
Those who have played and watched the game we love, there are things you do and don’t.
Do’s include smacking another player or anyone else on the bench in the face. Goading away fans, even studs up tackling, in fact a good old fashioned free for all punch up is wonderful for team spirt…. even not giving the ball back to the opponent’s after they kicked the ball out because of injury as we done yesterday as it’s all part of the game.
Half volley a football, aiming at a ball person walking away down concrete steps is up there with Wanker El Hadji Diouf spitting at a Celtic fan in the 2015 CL
Fucking embarrassing, and like that spit could have caused a riot if shown on TV hence they chose not to.
Cuntish cowardly act.. if that had been any of our kids and it was done by an opponent manager.. who wouldn’t want to chin him.
Sweaty cunt.

Positive changes should have been made at half time, what was the point in Yarmolenko for the last 3 minutes FFS? Benrahma who is sadly is our best option to turn a game around given 20 mins. Moyes spent 57m on Vlassic and Benrahma which is as bad as Pelligrini with Anderson & Haller who at least had their moments and Haller is an actual striker who knows where the goal is.
Crazy idea, but maybe let this Newman bloke we employed to recruit players actually recruit the players and tell Moyes to just manage them?

I couldn't care about who it was.
More that Moyes did something that was blatantly going to get him sent off in a time when the team needed leadership and management. If Cresswell is getting criticised for leaving the club in the lurch, then so should Moyes, IMO.

I'd actually put it down to some of our players not knowing the dark arts of the game. Take Micky for example, running down the channel, nips in front of Ndika, gets taken out. Rest of the game we didn't once try to take him on and get him booked again. Micky has the pace and power to do it, but not the brain.
Similar thing happens down the left side, Micky nips in front, another crazy touch takes the ball far away but Micky got there first. He tries to stay on his feet and is easily eased off the ball. As soon as you get the first touch and feel the defender touch you, you can go down. It might not be Queensbury rules, but every other experienced team does it.
And the manager needs to be on top of that stuff. Arteta and Conte would be.

I have posted before and agree with others about Moyes management of Vlasic. With nothing to lose with 10 minutes, why not put a fresh pair of legs on
He is annoying me as much as Bilic did when he keeps making the same mistakes week in and week out. We could have loaned or bought a striker in January

Wasn't it reported as a ball boy?
It's not that could have injured the kid or anything, it's just a pretty shitty thing for him to do and he completely lost the plot.
Maybe changing his tactics rather than booting balls at kids would have been a bit better?

Sure the kid will survive- his team won after all

Lee agreed but he wasn’t a boy. At first glance looked to be a sub or non playing squad player
No excuse though.

I've deliberately avoided most media, but it's surprised me how little is being made of Moyes booting a ball at a kid on here.
Pretty scummy act, if you ask me.

Dawson massively at fault for their goal.. gave Borre yards of space and left him unmarked.. more schoolboy defending.

It started to go wrong when Barca lost.
Suddenly instead of out two great matches against Barca we had tough games against Frankfurt.
Barca would have been a celebration and if we had lost in Barca last night not sure we would be so disappointed
Barca losing made us think we can win it and actually put pressure on.

Generally agree with all of that, COYI son.
Would say tbf that we only beat villa and seville because of yarmo's contributions from the bench, and nobles last few starts have been better than pretty much anything soucek has served up this season. I don't think he's used the resources he does have very well at all.

@ stewie griffin, it's not so much fatigue that is the issue, it's the lack of options on the bench. Moyes doesn't trust most of his bench including his margue £30 million signing Vlasic from last summer. That, for me, is a shocking way to run a squad and shows complete mismanagement when the manager and board CHOSE to sign FUCK ALL in January.
Moyes has flogged a tiny squad to death this season and didn't even both to get a Lingard type loan signing this January to give the squad a much needed jolt and more options.
We must be the most predicable team in all of the top leagues. The opposition could name our starting XI and system weeks in advance of playing us, as Moyes doesn't have a plan B. This, alongside his cautious characteristics and terrible use of substitutions highlight his limitations to me. Yes, he is a decent manager that will get a club like us top 10/ top 8 finishes, but he can't step it up to the next level. There is a reason he failed at Manchester United and has won FUCK ALL in his entire 20+ year managerial career.
At least last season we played attractive, counter attacking football. In recent months we have played awful, Allardyce-esque tactics. As others have pointed out, even before the sending off last night the obvious tactics were to hoof long balls up to Antonio to try to get him in behind their high line and to try to nick goals from set pieces (long throws and corners). Embarrassing, Sunday league tactics and really boring to watch.

Sniper - I like that piece a lot it does pull together all the cause and effect of this season. On a separate thread someone talks about how many players may move on voluntarily or otherwise. I think next season could be a huge reset and rebuild yet again especially if we lose key players we would rather keep. The current squad of a massive 11 players ( almost literally!) have completely run out of steam. Who is confident we can beat Norwich?
